About the Opportunity
Level the Playing Field in Development (LPFDev) is launching the next phase of our Climate Justice monitoring project, tracking COP30 negotiations and key global climate events over a one-year period. We are recruiting volunteer team members for a minimum commitment of 6 months to support research, analysis, outreach, and data collection.

Specific roles we are looking for
1) Data Analysis and Writing Volunteer
Role Description
Support our climate justice research team by analysing qualitative and quantitative data collected from climate events and COP negotiations. Translate data insights into clear, compelling reports and briefing notes.
Key Responsibilities
Support in the monitoring and collection of data on climate events in line with the research questions
Analyse data sets related to COP30 and other climate-related events
Draft reports and briefs on inclusion, equity, and participation patterns
Collaborate with the research team to develop key findings and recommendations
Ensure all written outputs are accessible
Skills & Experience
Strong analytical skills and data literacy
Excellent written communication
Interest or background in climate justice, policy analysis, or human rights preferred
Experience with data visualisation is a plus
Time Commitment
Minimum 6 months, approximately 6-8 hours per week (flexible)
2) Outreach Coordinator Volunteer
Role Description
Assist in expanding LPFDev’s climate justice network by identifying and engaging with stakeholders, event organisers, and partner organizations. Facilitate collaboration opportunities and ensure LPFDev is informed about upcoming relevant climate forums.
Key Responsibilities
Scout and track upcoming climate-related events globally and regionally
Contact event organizers to explore monitoring and collaboration opportunities
Build and maintain a stakeholder engagement database
Support communication efforts to grow LPFDev’s outreach and visibility
Skills & Experience
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
Experience in event coordination or community outreach
Proficiency in email communication and online research
Passion for climate justice and ethical engagement
Time Commitment
Minimum 6 months, approximately 4-6 hours per week (flexible)
3) Data Scraping Volunteer
Role Description
Support the data team with collecting open-source data from websites, social media, and digital platforms relevant to COP30 and climate justice events. Help maintain databases with accurate and up-to-date information for research and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Extract relevant data feeds from multiple online sources
Develop and maintain scripts or tools to automate data collection (if possible)
Work closely with analysts to ensure data quality and consistency
Document all data collection processes in line with ethical standards
Skills & Experience
Experience in web scraping or data mining tools and techniques
Basic programming skills (e.g., Python)
Knowledge and experience in API’s
Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Interest in climate justice
